Sprite Sheet Cutter
A free online sprite sheet splitter and auto slicer: drop a sprite sheet, let it find every sprite automatically or split it by rows and columns, and download the frames as individual PNG images.
Automatic sprite sheet slicer
Not every sheet is a neat grid. Automatic mode finds each sprite by the transparent space around it (or the flat background colour of an opaque sheet), joins pieces that almost touch, ignores specks, and numbers the sprites in reading order: left to right, top to bottom.
Split a sprite sheet into frames by rows and columns
For grid sheets, set the columns and rows, plus an outer offset and the gap between cells if there is one. The outlines over your sheet show every cut before you download.
Download every frame as a PNG, or an atlas
Get all frames as numbered PNG files in one ZIP, tap a single frame to save just that one, or keep the sheet and download a JSON atlas (Unity, Godot, Phaser) or a Sparrow XML atlas (FNF) that records where each frame sits.
Questions
How do I separate sprites from a sprite sheet?
Drop the sheet into the sprite sheet cutter above. Automatic mode finds each sprite by the transparent space (or flat background colour) around it; grid mode splits the sheet into equal rows and columns. Then download every frame as its own PNG in one ZIP.
How do I cut a sprite sheet into frames?
If every frame is the same size, use “Rows × columns”: enter the number of columns and rows, plus an offset or gap if the sheet has margins between cells. The pink outlines show exactly where each cut will be before you download.
Is there an automatic sprite sheet cutter?
Yes: “Automatic” mode. It works on sheets with irregular spacing and sprites of different sizes, and joins parts that sit close together (like a sword next to a hand) into one sprite. Raise “Join parts closer than” if pieces come out separately.
Can I use the frames in Unity or Godot?
Yes. Download the frames as separate PNGs, or keep the original sheet and download the JSON or XML atlas with each frame’s position, which Unity, Godot, Phaser and FNF can import.
Is the sprite sheet splitter free?
Yes, free with no sign-up. It runs in your browser, so your sprite sheet is never uploaded.
